Katrice Cornett is a talented singer-songwriter, loving wife, and mother who has dedicated her life to spreading the light of the Lord through her music. Born with a remarkable vocal talent, Katrice's journey in music began at the tender age of 4 when she captivated audiences with her rendition of "Oh Happy Day" by Edwin Hawkins, under the guidance of her late father, Donald W.T. Cary.
With her father's mentorship, Katrice's vocal capabilities flourished, and she found solace in using her talents to uplift and inspire others. During her teenage years, her family moved to West Deptford, New Jersey, a transition that deepened her devotion to music. Under her father's constant guidance, Katrice formed her own gospel group called Katrice Cornett & Highest Praise and recorded her first live project titled "Brand New Day Live."
Katrice's passion for music led her to share the stage with esteemed artists such as Pastor Charles Jenkins, Anton Milton, and the late Timothy Wright. Additionally, during a brief hiatus in her career, Katrice's son, Jermaine Jones, gained recognition as one of the top 10 finalists on Season 11 of American Idol, further showcasing the musical talents within her family.
In 2002, Katrice Cornett founded HP Visual Connections/Entertainment, a platform through which she could minister alongside her husband, John Cornett, Sr. Their partnership became the inspiration for the group's rise as international recording artists. Together, they have touched the lives of countless individuals through their heartfelt performances and shared commitment to spreading the love of God.
In 2014, Katrice was blessed to release a debut CD project titled Amazing Love with her sisters Yvette C. Owens, Donna Carter & Thilana Bennett. This project was followed two years later, in 2016, with a sophomore CD Christmas project titled Rejoice. Ministering with The Cary Sisters (Heart2Heart) as the tenor vocalist in the family group brings Katrice great joy and is one of her favorite things to do.
In 2019, Katrice embarked on her debut collection, a CD project titled "Refreshing Cafe - Up Close Vol. 1." This album served as a collaboration with six artists who had previously graced the stage of the Indie Café, an event that Katrice has hosted for over a decade. Known for her unique vocals and euphonic voice, Katrice Cornett received the Christian Film Festival Award in 2017 and was honored as the Gospel Artist of the Year in 2018 by the Kindred Awards Ministries.
Deeply rooted in her faith, Katrice's primary goal is to have her songs sung by church choirs, using music as a powerful tool to spread the love of God to the masses. Currently, she is working on her third album, "Purpose," which aims to empower individuals and instill belief and conviction in their life's journey. The title track of the EP, "Purpose," was released in July 2021.
